Evento de Ciência, Arte e Tecnologia (STEAM) para Meninas WiSci

Em termos globais, há um forte desequilíbrio de gênero nas áreas de Ciência, Arte e Tecnologia (STEM). O Evento da WiSci tem como objetivo ajudar a preencher essa lacuna através do acesso à educação, oportunidades de orientação e treinamento de liderança.

Past Camps

The WiSci STEAM Camps began in 2015 with a pilot program in Rwanda. Since then, there have been 5 WiSci Girls STEAM Camps, bringing girls together from around the globe to learn about science, technology, engineering, arts and design, and math.

2018 | WiSci STEAM Camp | Georgia

The 2018 WiSci Girls STEAM Camp Georgia was held for two weeks from August 12-25, 2018 in Tbilisi, Georgia.  The camp brought together 100 high school girls from Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the United States to work together to enhance their STEAM skills, craft their leadership potential, and build camaraderie and networks that will help propel them to new opportunities. Campers had the opportunity to learn how to develop mobile applications, coding skills, learn about microbiology and more. The camp was hosted by The U.S. Department of State’s Office of Global Partnerships, the Millennium Challenge Corporation and Girl Up with Intel and Google.

2018 | WiSci STEAM Camp | Namibia

The 2018 WiSci Girls STEAM Camp Namibia was held for nearly two weeks from June 17-29, 2018 in Windhoek, Namibia. The camp brought together 100 high school girls from the African continent (Ethiopia, Kenya, Namibia, Swaziland) and the United States to work together to enhance their STEAM skills, craft their leadership potential, and build camaraderie and networks that will propel them to new opportunities. Campers had the opportunity to learn how to develop mobile applications, coding skills, learn about microbiology and more.

2017 | WiSci STEAM Camp | Malawi

The 2017 WiSci Girls STEAM Camp was held for approximately two and a half weeks from July 30 – August 15, 2017 in Malawi. The camp brought together 98 high school girls from the African continent (Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Tanzania and Liberia) and the United States to work together to enhance their STEAM skills, craft their leadership potential, and build camaraderie and networks that will propel them to new opportunities. Campers had the opportunity to learn how to develop mobile applications, coding skills, learn about microbiology and more.

2016 | Evento de Ciência, Arte e Tecnologia (STEAM) WiSci | Peru

A 2016 WiSci Girls STEAM camp was held for two weeks in July in Peru and brought together high school girls from Chile, Mexico, Peru and the United States. The camp offered students a new opportunity to demonstrate the real impact of STEAM education on girls. It capitalized on a related workshop for relevant APEC ministers by including a day-long session for the Ministers to interact with and mentor the girls on pursuing a STEAM based academic and career path.

2015 | Evento de Ciência, Arte e Tecnologia (STEAM) WiSci | Ruanda

Em 2015, um evento piloto de Ciência, Arte e Tecnologia (STEAM) para Meninas WiSci reuniu um grupo diversificado de 30 estudantes do ensino médio dos Estados Unidos para a oportunidade de estudar na Academia de Ciência e Tecnologia Gashora Girls, em Ruanda, ao lado de 90 estudantes africanas de 8 países africanos. Um grupo dinâmico de parceiros WiSci, incluindo o Departamento de Estado dos EUA, a Fundação de Caridade AOL, o Girl Up, a Intel Corporation e a Microsoft, conceberam o conceito e mais de 200 horas de programação, ministrou treinamentos em sala de aula, ofereceu orientação a mentoras inspiradoras e deu apoio a viagens e logística para todo o evento.
